Who makes TradesTimer
TradesTimer is built by one person — Ryder Wishart, under 17114401 Canada Inc.. Before writing software I spent years on the tools: framing, fencing, roofing, siding, decks, concrete, drywall, and painting. After that I ran the back office of an electrical contractor — purchase orders, invoicing, and the weekly ritual of reconstructing where roughly ten guys on the road had actually been, from memory, so we could bill for it.
That ritual is why this app exists. Hours logged from memory are hours lost — and every tool we tried demanded the one thing a jobsite never gives you: remembering to start a timer with your hands full. TradesTimer works backwards instead. Your phone quietly keeps the record all day; you review the reconstructed day in a minute and bill it. The core app is free, needs no account, and your location history never leaves your phone.
How this site is written
The guides, comparisons, and calculators here are free and ungated, and they hold to a few rules:
- Real sources. Quotes from tradespeople link to the original public thread. Competitor prices are stated with the date we checked them.
- Dated pages. Every guide shows when it was last updated, and tax-rate figures are revised when the IRS/CRA revise theirs.
- No sponsored placements, no affiliate links. The only thing promoted on this site is our own free app, and it’s always labelled as ours.
- Honest limits. Calculators say what they estimate and what they don’t. Nothing here is tax, accounting, or legal advice.
