Time tracking for roofers

Track visits throughout your day

Your work can include Tearing off old shingles, Installing drip edge, Tacking down felt paper. You might visit Residential repair sites, Commercial flat roof projects, New construction rooftops in one day. Use your timeline to review each recorded visit before billing.

Common time-tracking challenges

  • Losing track of time spent on unexpected repairs discovered during a tear-off
  • Difficulty documenting drive time between small, scattered service calls in different neighborhoods
  • Unaccounted-for minutes spent prepping the site and moving materials before the actual work begins

How TradesTimer handles it

  • Records repair visits for you to review before billing
  • Tracks every trip between jobsites for an effortless mileage log at tax time
  • Captures the full duration of your work sessions without needing to manually start or stop anything

The founder’s experience with roofer work

I worked roofing and siding crews, plus my own roof jobs during reno and extension builds. Roofing hours are hostage to weather — you tear off when the sky lets you, tarp and leave when it doesn't, and come back for a half-day to finish flashing. Two site visits, three days apart, one invoice.

Rain-split days are exactly where paper tracking fails. The full tear-off day, you remember. The two hours of flashing and cleanup on the return trip is the entry that never gets written down — and at roofing rates that's real money left on the table.

Automatic stop detection doesn't care that the job got split by weather. Both visits are logged with times, and the job total is just the sum of what actually happened.
